Sixty Day Pillar characters
Each character combines an animal with our imagery for its element and polarity. It represents one calendar pair in your chart. Your year, month and hour pillars add their own context.
- The Oak RatA deep-running mind that moves first and thinks twice.
- The Vine OxQuiet endurance that outlasts whatever it is up against.
- The Solar TigerRelentless heat and a refusal to shrink.
- The Starlight RabbitA fine-grained sensibility that reads a room before it speaks.
- The Mountain DragonScale of ambition matched by the nerve to carry it.
- The Meadow SnakeA strategist's eye attached to an unusual range of talent.
How it's calculated
- True solar time, not clock time
- Your birthplace's longitude decides where the Sun actually was. A chart cast on the clock alone is off by up to half an hour, which is enough to change the hour pillar.
- Solar terms from astronomy, not a lookup table
- The year and month turn on the Sun's position, computed directly. Measured against published values, the terms that divide the months land within 6.8 minutes.
- Your birth data is never stored
- The free chart needs no account: it travels in the link, and your birth date, time and city are computed and discarded, never written down.
